• Eligible applicant : Foreign nationals who have maintained a registered address in Korea for two years or longer during their marriage or those who have maintained a registered address in Korea for one year or longer three years after their marriage

  Documents demonstrating the applicant’s foreign nationality and financial documents

  1. A certificate of financial assets amounting to KRW 30 million or more (savings, installment savings, securities, etc.)
  2. A registration certificate for real estate with an appraised value of KRW 30 million or more, or a copy of the real estate lease agreement containing the same or larger amount of lease deposit
  3. An employment certificate or a certificate of scheduled employment
  4. Other documents deemed equivalent to those in ①~③ by the Minister of Justice

Nationality Acquisition of Foreign Workers

• Requirements for Naturalization : Adult foreign nationals who have never been a Korean national since birth, legally residing in Korea for five years or longer
• Apply to : Nationality Team, Seoul Immigration Office (☎02-2650-6399)
• Required documents : Application for naturalization and related documents
  • A copy of the passport, criminal record issued from the applicant's home government, a copy of letter of recommendation from one or more persons
  • Finance-related documents (documents demonstrating the applicant’s ability to support his/her living)
    1. A certificate of income equivalent to or larger than the gross national income (GNI) per capita of the preceding year announced by the Bank of Korea
    2. Documents demonstrating financial assets of KRW 60 million or more (savings, installment savings, securities, etc.)
    3. A registration certificate for real estate with an appraised value of KRW 60 million or more, or a copy of the real estate lease agreement containing the same or larger amount of lease deposit
  • Documents demonstrating the status of parents, spouse, children, marriage, etc. of the applicant (for Chinese nationals, a household register and a kinsfolk relation certificate authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China)
  • If the applicant is Korean-Chinese, an official document issued by the People's Republic of China demonstrating he/she is indeed Korean-Chinese when entering his/her name in Korean pronunciation
  • If the applicant newly specifies his/her date of birth, a certificate demonstrating such date issued by the embassy or consulate of the applicant's original nationality
