National Basic Living Security System
A foreign national without Korean citizenship will be recognized as an eligible applicant if he/she satisfies all of the three following requirements at the same time
- Individual married to a Korean citizen and pregnant or whose spouse is pregnant, or raises a minor with Korean citizenship among registered aliens currently residing in Korea (including those who have divorced or whose spouse has passed away)
- Families with assets below the minimum cost of living announced by the government each year
- Individuals whose parents, children and spouse have no ability to provide for the family
Support details
- Livelihood : Basic items required for daily life such as clothing, food, and fuel cost are provided
- Housing : Rent required to lease a housing unit, and the cost of repairs and maintenance are provided in cash or through housing repair programs
- Education : Admission fees, tuition fees, textbook expenses, school supplies, etc. required for children to go to elementary, middle, and high school.
- Childbirth : If a household has given birth to a child or is scheduled to give birth to a child, KRW 600,000 is provided per child in cash
- Funeral : If a beneficiary of the basic living security system passes away, KRW 750,000 is provided for each deceased to the family who was subject to the same benefits
Apply to : Community service center with jurisdiction over the applicant's place of residence
